Bridging w/ 2 NIC's instead of 3?

Hi, can I bridge the LAN and WAN interfaces together or do I have to use
OPT1 with one of the 2?  I ask because I want only a bridging firewall
(is it called a packet filter?) and I don't really want to use 3 NIC
cards.  If it's not possible how about configuring OPT1 with one of the
other interfaces, yet having only 2 NIC cards in the box?  Obviously I'm
using a PC here not a Soekris board.
