Not sure if you tried this, but are you using a cross-over cable between two
ethernet ports?  I make the mistake very often and forget to either use a
hub, switch or cross over cable.

I am interested to find out how you plan to integrate m0n0 with sonicwall as
I use a bunch of PRO300's
