on pb15r486 booting from cd
Ive tried it on 2 of my workstations with athlon cpus on via chipset 
motherboards and get the same thing.

fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode
fault code: supervisor read, page not present

after the usb config stuff..

I searched google and it seems that this is a fairly common problem, but I did find one 
patch.. dunnot if it would apply though.
