errps, thanx. i have a net4511 and it doesnt have a PCI slot, and i sorta
ASSumed that the net4501 was a net4511 with an additional 10/100Mbps NIC.
my bad.

but this is good news. i was planning on testing out the functionality of
the vpn cards, and now the 4501/vpn1401 combination working as you've
mentioned does give hope.
