I'm trying to get a secure connection from
a friend's XP home system to my m0n0wall

I tried PPTP and it failed (even though it worked
from another XP pro)

So, I looked at IPsec, and it looks like it
should be doable....

I set up the m0n0wall side, and it looks OK,
Then, I went through the menus on the xp side,
and it quickly advised me that I had correctly set up
an IPSec vpn....

then, windows asked me to give a userid and password.

Any thoughts?

Ban windows on my network?
